The History
The Wheatsheaf was built around 1800 by miners at the Swithland slate mines as their place to meet after a tough day. It is the most recent in a long chain of restaurants, hotels, bars and pubs run, owned and refurbished by the Dimblebee family, since 1949. As the locals will be pleased to tell you, they have many happy memories of their days in one of 'Dim's Inns'. Oak pews, an open fire, and stacks of passion on a variety of interests, deliver a warm unique atmosphere.
