Flying
@ THE WHEATSHEAF
INN
|
Close
to the hearts of every generation of the Dimblebees, flying
remains a core family interest.
Richard
with Leicestershire Aero Club's Cessna in 1972, having just
achieved his first solo flight. Being a director of Dim's
Inn in those days, time off from duties did not provide
opportunity to change for the occasion!
Another shot finds Richard with
his beloved Chipmunk in 1982.
The three "masthead"
plaques at the head of the bar are from Mr Dimblebee senior's
squadrons during his active service in World War II, flying
spitfires. Starting as a VR Volunteer Reserve with which
all where given the rank of sergeant culminating his service
as Squandron Leader.

To
the left of the fireplace is a painting of his aircraft,
presented by the RAFA after his retirement as East Midlands
Chairman.
